Planting

• When: Direct sow in late fall for spring germination (preferred), or in early spring after a cold stratification period
• Where: Full sun; adaptable to nearly any soil type - sandy loam, clay loam, or rocky ground — as long as it isn't poorly drained
• How: Press seed onto the surface of the soil rather than burying it — it needs light to germinate. If sowing in spring instead of fall, mix seed with moist sand and refrigerate for 30 days beforehand to mimic a natural winter chill. Keep soil lightly moist until germination, which typically takes 3–4 weeks.
